Title | Exploring Rare Complications in SLT: Challenges and Considerations (BGS) |
Purpose | We aim to present didactic cases of the rare ocular complications following Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT), a widely utilized procedure. The objective is not to cause undue concern but to rather to enhance understanding and enable ophtalmologists to recognize these complications when encountered. |
Methods | PowerPoint presentation to expose various cases, incorporating fundus photographs, Pentacam images, and additional modalities. |
Results | The first case pertains to the recently identified Selective Trabeculoplasty-Induced Keratopathy (STIK), while the second case describes a retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) occurring subsequent to Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT). The pathophysiology, current treatment options, and prognosis will be comprehensively detailed. |
Conclusion | Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty is becoming increasingly prevalent in POAG/ OHT first line management. This presentation will provide a brief overview of the common side effects and a more detailed examination of the rarer side effects that have emerged in recent publications, and in our practice. |
