TitleInflammatory forms of multiple sclerosis : review of therapeutic options
Abstract Nr.3024
Purpose;;
Methods;;
Results;;
ConclusionMultiple sclerosis ( MS) is the most common non traumatic disabling neurological disease of young adults affecting an estimated 2 million people worldwide.
The management of MS is becoming increasingly complex with the emergence of new and more effective disease - modifying therapies ( DMT) .
These therapies are also at higher risk of severe adverse events. The therapeutic challenge is to find the balance between effective immunosuppression and the risk of toxicity.
No evidence of disease activity ( NEDA ) is defined as absence of magnetic resonance imaging activity ( T2 and / or gadolinium - enhanced T1 lesions ), absence of relapses, disability progression and brain atrophy progression ( NEDA 4 ).
NEDA 4 is a comprehensive measure of MS disease control.
