Title | Conjunctival melanoma in non-Caucasian patients |
Abstract Nr. | P116 |
Purpose | To describe four cases of conjunctival melanoma in non-Caucasian patients. |
Methods | In the literature no non-Caucasian patients with conjunctival melanomas are found. |
Results | We present cases of conjunctival melanomas in two patients from Indonesian descendence, one Indian and one Moroccan patient. |
Conclusion | Although the vast majority of non-Caucasian patients with pigmented lesions of the conjunctiva do not develop a melanoma, these cases illustrate that conjunctival melanoma can occur in non-Caucasian patients. Lesions thicker than one millimeter, and non-limbal tumors should be carefully examined. |
