Title | Bimanual microincision phacoemulsification using the new “custom control software” on the millennium microsurgical system |
Abstract Nr. | P003 |
Purpose | To establish optimum machine settings for bimanual microincision phacoemulsification using “Custom Control Software” on the Millennium Microsurgical System. |
Methods | 30 Patients underwent bimanual phacosurgery utilizing “Custom Control Software” on the B&L Millennium. Safety and efficacy of the procedure are evaluated. U/S average, elapsed phaco time (EPT), absolute phaco time (APT) and postoperative visual acuity on day 1 are recorded. |
Results | The new software on the B&L Millennium offers expanded ultrasound Pulse and Burst Mode settings. This enables the surgeon to perform safe and effective bimanual microincision phacoemulsification with 73% of eyes having a BCVA of 20/25 or better on day 1. |
Conclusion | Using “Custom Control Software”, phacoemulsification can be performed safely and efficiently through microincisions with a bimanual technique on the Millennium Microsurgical System. |
