TitreEndonasal dacryocystorhinostomy
Abstract Nr.P012
ButA retrospective study to evaluate the results of endonasal dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR).
MéthodesWe reviewed a serie of 321 endonasal DCR performed by one surgeon from 1999 to 2003. All patients had a follow-up of at least one year after surgery. Full success meant that the patients had no complaints of epiphora and that the ostium was patent. Partial success meant that there was less tearing than before surgery and the ostium was partially open. Failure meant that the patients had no improvement and that the ostium had sealed.
RésultatsFull success was achieved in 92% and partial success in 2%. The main causes of failure were a bridging scar between the middle turbinate and the ostium and inadequate lacrimal sac excision.
ConclusionEndonasal DCR is a reliable alternative for external DCR.
