TitreTreatment of neovascular glaucoma
Abstract Nr.A1047
ButNeovascular glaucoma is a devastating ocular disease. The prognosis is poor and results mostly in loss of vision. Neovascularization of the iris and the irido-corneal angle occurs in response to ischemic triggers. The result is a progressive obstruction and closure of the angle. Management consists in treatment of the underlying disease responsible for rubeosis iridis and treatment of the increased intraocular pressure.
The overview and the results of the treatments learn us that, despite the many advances of the management of neovascular glaucoma, visual prognosis remains poor and the patients have a blind painful eye.
Therefore it is imperative to early recognize the etiology of the disease, before the development of the neovascularization, to maintain visual function and to avoid pain.
