Message from the President, 

Dear Colleagues,

The end of summer has sadly arrived, but autumn promises to be no less exciting on the professional front.

After all, at the end of November, Ophthalmologia Belgica  is scheduled, to be the annual highlight of the ophthalmological landscape in Belgium. Together with an incredible group of enthusiastic colleagues, we ensure that both trainee assistants and ophthalmologists get an update on new clinical insights and theoretical knowledge. 

We organise wetlabs, see Programme Schedule, for cataract and glaucoma surgery and teach how to perform iris sutures and trauma surgery.

Traditionally, the level of free communication presentations is very high again this year and there will be several clinical teaching courses covering all subspecialties of ophthalmology.

At the exhibition - a large number of medical firms across the country will be represented and put their best foot forward to share their knowledge and products with you.

The world-renowned medical retina specialist, Professor Francesco Bandello, will deliver this year's Annual AOB Lecture. He will be joined by three other leading figures in the field of ophthalmology as our keynote speakers: Aki Kawasaki, an expert in neuro-ophthalmology; Gerd Auffarth, a specialist in the anterior segment; and Luis Pinto, a prominent authority on glaucoma. 

On Thursday 28 November 2024, the annual congress dinner will take place in the belle-epoque theatre hall of Hotel Le Plaza with no fewer than 250 guests. With a smashing party afterwards with The Party Collective!

To sum up, here is a proud chairman of a great team working very hard behind the scenes to make it a real celebration. We look forward to seeing our colleagues come together to meet, interact, and collaborate.
