TitelAssessment in mydriasis of OCTA parameter of macular region and optic nerve head after dark and light adaptation
DoelTo evaluate the effects of light and dark exposure on retinal and optic nerve head (ONH) region vessel density as measured in mydriasis using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA).
Methodes19 eyes of 19 healthy volunteers were examined using a high-speed and high-resolution spectral-domain OCT XR Avanti with a split-spectrum amplitude de-correlation angiography algorithm. OCTA imaging of macular region and optic nerve head was performed in two separate cycles of dark and light adaptation. Measurements were obtained at 0 min and 2 min after dark and light adaptation. The vessel density data of the superficial and deep retinal macular and optic nerve head region OCT-angiogram were analyzed for these two light conditions. Thickness of retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL), ganglion cell complex layer (GCC) and parafoveal thickness (ThiPa) were also extracted.
ResultatenThe mean patient age was 24.29 ± 2.21 years. No significant differences were found in the OCTA parameter at 0 min and 2 min. GCC and ThiPa did show an increase in dark adapted states compared with light adapted state.
ConclusieAlthough an increase in macular thickness is observed in dark adapted state compared with light adapted state, an increase in vessel density is not observed using OCTA in mydriasis. Our findings might suggest, OCTA is not influenced by lighting prior to examination.
