Title | Chronic anterior uveitis. |
Abstract Nr. | 1018 |
Purpose | To describe chronic anterior uveitis as well as the associated practical management. |
Results | Anterior uveitis describes a disease predominantly limited to the anterior segment of the eye. It is characterized by the involvement of the cornea, the anterior chamber, the irido-corneal angle and the iris. When the inflammatory episode lasts longer than 6 weeks, it is classified as a chronic anterior uveitis. The chronic anterior uveitis has generally an insidious onset and may be associated with remissions and exacerbations. The origin of this disease can be infectious, inflammatory, infiltrative or idiopathic. The treatment of chronic anterior uveitis is difficult and may involve systemic drugs. The prognosis is usually guarded. |
Conclusion | In this presentation, the different clinical entities as well as the associated practical management will be covered. |
